Stop the press.....We have had a visit from T rex

Our topic this term is Dinosaurs, we have lots of children very interested in dinosaurs, particularly after we caught the footage of a giant T Rex walking around our playground and our classroom. This week he left us a nest of dinosaur eggs for us to look after and hatch.
UPDATE - all our dinosaur eggs hatched!! It was very exciting, we have lots of different types of dinosaurs, which inspired us to use the internet to find out all about our dinosaurs. We found out about plant eaters and meat eaters, dinosaurs that could fly and those that had 2 or 4 legs.

As part of our topic on animals, we welcomed a mobile farm to school on Monday. The weather wasn't on our side so we decided to invite some of the animals inside, It was amazing learning all about the different farm animals, we were able to bottle feed the lambs and give the goats their breakfast.

January News

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

We welcomed a few new caterpillars to our nursery this term, they are settling in well and making new friends. Whilst our confident caterpillars have been making them feel welcome.

We have all come back ready to learn and are thinking about animals. we have been inspired by the stories Polar Bear Polar bear last week and Dear Zoo this week. We enjoyed exploring snow and making our own playdough snowmen.

This week we have been thinking about what animals look like, where they live and what they like to eat.

Nursery read 'Be Who You Are' and drew self portraits of themselves on jigsaw pieces.  They celebrated being unique and special.

October

Its been all about our funky fingers in nursery this week, we are working on getting our fingers muscles strong to help us with our writing, painting and cutting skills.

We have lots of fun in our Nursery, both indoors and out!

September

We have been talking about all the things that make us special, and trying to think about things that make us unique. We made a mini me using reclaimed materials to decorate and added our school uniform!

Sports Day - Dancing
Whilst the weather was hotting up, the caterpillars were busy developing their outdoor classroom, we created a potion making station, water wall, fine motor challenge stations and changed a few areas around, we had a fabulous few days this week enjoying the nice weather, but keeping ourselves safe using the shade, drinking lots of water, applying suncream and wearing our sunhats.

May

We have been thinking about how we are all unique and have different talents. We have been talking about what makes us special during our carpet times this week.
We have painted our portraits and decorated fish to celebrate how individual we all are. .
Our children and parents loved stay and play this week. We had fun playing with numbers and shapes. We also learnt how to use our new app "mathletics".
The children all loved the experience of meeting Andrews pets and after some persuasion all the children handled or stoked every pet Andrew brought

We met his millipede Marge, Tom the tree frog, Mr Tickle the snake, Olaf the guinea pig and Wallace and Gromit the sand fish. We learnt about where they live, what they eat and their diffferent features such as their scales, stripes and how many legs they have.
Today it was our chicks last day at school. We received a special certificate for looking after them.

In the Early Years Classes we have been watching a batch of eggs hatch into little chicks, this week in Nursery we brought them into our classroom so we could feed them and clean out their home. We loved holding the chicks and letting them walk onto our hands. Their little feet felt tickly on our hands!
The yellow chicks are the boys and they kept pecking against the window when Mrs Warren wanted to move them to clean their home, the children all thought this was very funny! We have really enjoyed watching the chicks change from eggs into little chicks.
